Our first priority right now is Ubuntu, the Institute’s cohort-based learning programme. A formal call for papers will follow once that is underway; the form below remains open if you’d like to submit ahead of it.

African societies from pre-colonial civilizations through colonialism, independence movements, and ongoing decolonization.
Society, Politics & Economics
Governance, development, and the social and economic life of the continent, past and present.
Arts, Literature & Culture
Creative and cultural production, literature, oral tradition, visual and performing arts, across Africa.
Religion, Philosophy & Lived Experience
Indigenous and world belief systems, philosophical traditions, and rigorous first-person research into lived and transcendent experience.
STEM & Metaphysics
Bridging technological advancement with deep philosophical inquiry, applying rigorous scientific methodologies to modern African challenges.
What We Look For
Original. It contributes something new, not just a summary of existing work.
Rigorous. It takes sources, methodology, and evidence seriously.
Relevant. It speaks to questions that matter in African studies.
Thoughtful. It recognizes complexity rather than reducing Africa to simple narratives.
Accessible. Academic clarity is a virtue. Necessary difficulty only.
